Josef Lauer (1818, Vienna - 28 September 1881, Vienna), Austrian artist, known for his still-lifes with flowers and fruits. He attended the Academy of Arts in Vienna and was trained, amongst others, by the still-life painter Sebastian Wegmayr, who influenced him significantly. From 1840, he regularly exhibited his works at the Academy, later followed by the exhibitions at the Kunstverein Wien. In 1861, he was appointed member of the Künstlerhaus Wien. He lived and worked solely in Vienna.
