Dancers from "The Book of the Dance" - six Autochromes from the book by Arnold Genthe, 1916 and 1920

*

Originally published by Mitchell Kennerley in New York, 1916, it was republished in 1920 by International Publishers, Boston. The cloth bound book was comprised of 229 pages, with more than 100 photographic plates, including six reproduced in color from Genthe's original Autochromes. It included a forward by the photographer and an introductory essay "On with the Dance" by the Irish-American poet and critic Shaemas O'Sheel (né James Shields).

The first edition, 1916.
The 1920 edition.
Juliet Barrett Rublee. The frontispiece. (The following images are ordered as they appear in the book, interspersed with the black and white images.)
Ruth St. Denis.
Hilda Biyar.
Mignon (Isabel Rodriguez).
Daphne. (I don't know whether that's actually the name of the dancer or merely a title for the photograph.)
Andrea Zamora.
