Dame au vase, le jour de son anniversaire - Joséphine Baker, Studio Harcourt, Paris, 1940

Happy one-hundred-and-sixteenth, notre belle Joséphine!

Studio Harcourt was founded in 1934 by photographer Cosette Harcourt, née Germaine Hirschfeld (1900–1976), in association with Robert Ricci and the Lacroix brothers, and located at 11, rue Christophe-Colomb in Paris. It has always been known for its black-and-white photographs of film stars and other celebrities, but having one's photo taken at Harcourt has also long been seen as a mark of success among the French upper middle class. The studio is currently located at 6, rue de Lota in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
