  1. Although I love Zurbaran in general, I don't know this painting of his in particular. Thank you.. it is sparse, even by his standards.

    1. Yes, the Zurburan! The reason I put together this post in the first place. There is another of his almost identical to this - the flower is in a slightly different position - but it's part of a larger still life. I've often seen that one on the internet, but as a cropped detail of the full painting, giving the impression that it's like the one here, a full image unto itself.
