Eduard Ritter (28 September 1808, Wieden - 5 September 1853, Vienna), successful Austrian Biedermeier period painter, known for his portraits and genre scenes. He studied from 1829 to 1834 at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, a fellow student of Josef Danhauser, Peter Fendi, and Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller. From 1830 he showed at the Academy regularly and, in 1848, became a member. From 1851 he also exhibited at the Austrian Art Association and the Künstlerhaus Wien.
