Winterhalter was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's favorite portrait painter. There are literally hundreds of his paintings (and copies of his work) still in the Royal Collection today, and dozens of them are portraits of the royal couple's nine children. Winterhalter portrayed the eldest child, known in the family as Vicky, more frequently than most of the others, from her infancy until several years after her marriage. The images here are only a sample.
You can certainly see why. She was lovely.
