I'm not drawn to much contemporary art, but every time I stumble across Robert Bauer's work on the internet, I have to pause and sit with it. Beautifully precise and still; he seems to capture the exact molecular configuration that signals the blend of light and air.
Born in Iowa in 1942, he paints in oil, tempera, and egg tempera on small scale panels. I especially like his portraits of his frequent model, Adam, painted between 2009 and 2011.
