This image was originally just one of the others I pulled for this post. But there's something about it that I find so captivating, I had to feature it separately. The photograph shows a group of African American women, delegates of 4,780 clubs from forty-three states, arriving at King Street Station in Seattle in the summer of 1948 to attend the 24th Biennial Convention of the National Association of Colored Women Clubs. The photograph is by Albert "Al" J. Smith Sr.
