Pour une journée au printemps.... - day dress, French, circa 1904-08

Cotton lawn, with handmade and machine-made lace, as well as handmade cotton crocheted flowers, all pieced together by hand. Unknown maker.

In the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.

  1. The poor seamstresses must have gone blind hand-making the millions of lace pieces and cotton flowers, then putting the dress together by hand. Look how well it survived the 120 years.
