An early photograph, France, circa 1920s. His own hairline.
During his first days in Hollywood, circa 1930. When that hairline has receded.
An early version of new "frontage". A bit too much of a window's peak.
Another early toupée. (The usually fastidious publicity department at MGM has done nothing to disguise the hair lace.)

  2. He presented himself as a sexy, thoughtful man, not as a wild animal type of lover. Even the cigarettes (which I normally hate) looked cool.
