Carl Adolf Henning (28 February 1809, Berlin - 25 March 1900, Berlin), German painter of the Biedermeier period. Son of a court Kapellmeister, he graduated in 1823 from the Berlin Academy. From 1833 to 1835 he traveled in Italy, and on his return to Berlin, he commenced a successful career as a portraitist and painter of historical and mythological subjects. In 1839 he was made a member and professor at the Berlin Academy.
