Blue rooms - watercolors of Winter Palace interiors by Edward Petrovich Hau

Antechamber of Tsesarevich Alexander Nikolayevich.

Eduard Petrovich Hau (July 28, 1807, Reval - 1887 or 88, Moscow) was one of the most important of the nineteenth-century watercolorists who specialized in extremely detailed representations of interior decoration.  He made innumerable paintings of the rich interiors of the Russian Imperial family's many palaces; the precision of his work has proven invaluable to the post-WWII restoration of some of those buildings.
