Tamara Karsavina

Tamara Platonovna Karsavina (March 10, 1885, St. Petersburg – May 26, 1978, Beaconsfield), Russian ballerina, celebrated for her beauty as well as her great artistry, she was a principal artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and later, famously, of the Ballets Russes.  After settling in England, she became important as a teacher and one of the founders of modern British ballet.
